Marada’s Dispatches: Good price on OG mesclun, baby swiss chard, 3 gallon gelato, and more …

Must try this week:  Green Earth Gardens beautiful scallions…Island Farm romaine for great lettuce flavor…Goose Tongue Beach Greens.  These beach greens were the hit of our family’s 4th of July…and apparently they can be pickled, much like the Eshallots of the St. John Valley.

Be sure to call in your order on Thursday to find out what items are expected in that are not on the list…as produce comes fast and furious we don’t always have the details nailed enough on Wednesday morning to list them…for example, I know there will be bunched hakurei turnips available from Village Farm.  I have heard strong rumors regarding cucumbers.  The summer squash missing from this week’s orders should be in heavy enough supply to keep everyone happy next week.

And of course, this is the best week to put up a flat of strawberries or make jam…you might, if you ask nicely, get a discount for ordering 6 flats…
