Marada’s Dispatches: In under the wire, raising the bar for Maine foods …

I wish I could say that the lateness of this morning’s availability sheet was due to an epic Valentine’s brunch prepared by my darling children…maybe next year!

This week’s offerings (and I’ll keep my preamble short in the interest of getting the list into your hands) include red kidney beans and organic Jacob’s Cattle beans, popcorn, french fingerlings (organic), a great price on cod (which is a tempting topic for a newsletter but I’ll save it – maybe you can eat cod this week and then we’ll illuminate the cool story this fish has to offer next week?), and a few cases of long butternut squashes.

You will notice supplies of root veggies are indeed dwindling – we are bringing in smaller lots of carrots, beets, etc, so it’s worth asking for them, but please bear in mind that we are nearing the end of our supplies and the out-of-stock frequency is likely to go up in the next couple weeks because of this. However, of over 465 products on the list, only 10-20 are root vegetables this time of year.  If you’re bummed about the lack of OG carrots, it might be the week to try something you wouldn’t normally.

Thanks, and I promise a more entertaining missive next round!
