Marada’s Dispatches: New produce out, new baby here, new availability coming ….

We didn’t exactly plan for Arthur to be three weeks late when Leah’s Peace Corps crew scheduled that whitewater rafting trip.  Or for the zoning meeting in Aroostook County to be scheduled for Monday.  We’ve been paying a lot of attention to our ‘systems’ this year – how to organize our workloads so others can take them on, the job can get done, the food get out – if one of us weren’t exactly ‘on hand’.

This weekend, neither of us were.  My family welcomed Arthur (12lbs!!) to our gang on Sunday morning – a fine, healthy lad, who apparently has my nose.  Not sure if Ryan (dad) is just tugging my chain on that as he has said that about all three of our newborns.

Leah took her one vacation for the summer (much deserved!) with a group of spirited PeaceCorp peers…and our small warehouse team found themselves flying solo on Monday when she made the trek north for the zoning meeting.

If there’s anything to be said for turning ‘quirky’ into ‘company’ its that the quirkier parts of life become more do-able.  While some of you may have experienced out-of-stocks related to wet weather, insect damage to lettuce heads, or the undeniable popularity of the heirloom tomato packs, there were remarkably few packing and/or delivery errors.  (There were a few, apologies to Brooklin Inn).

While I write this farmers are sending in the last few produce updates, the office is quiet due to last night’s late, late show, and the trucks are out on the round.

I wouldn’t say we didn’t miss a beat around here this weekend, but the show certainly went on.   And, we managed a few miracles to boot.

Thanks for your patience with the sheet this week, we hope to have it ready by 3PM.

For those of you used to calling my cell phone, please try the office this week (877 7444) or Leah’s cell (316 6776).

Congratulations!! and welcome Arthur! Third babies aren’t supposed to be three weeks late!
And sorry, Marada– one of those calls you got on your cell phone this week was my bad. I only thought of the likelihood of you having recently given birth after the fact . . .
